About this grant
Wigan Council grant for employers that recruit a new apprentice aged 16 to 24 who lives in the borough. The basic grant is £3,000 (paid £1,000 at the start and £2,000 at the end of the apprenticeship); the enhanced talent-pool grant is £5,000, paid in three instalments. The council added £200,000 to the programme at the start of 2026/27; funds are not guaranteed and applications start with an expression of interest.
