Historic Environment Scotland

Historic Environment Grants Fund – Large (£100,001 to £750,000)

About this grant

The Large stream of Historic Environment Scotland's main grants fund supports major projects connected to Scottish historic environment assets, such as significant repair and conservation, skills, outreach and interpretation. The maximum request rose to £750,000 from 1 April 2026. Every applicant must first have an expression of interest approved (EOIs are open all year and HES aims to respond within 10 working days) before being invited to apply. The 2026-27 application deadlines are 30 June, 31 October and 28 February; an EOI submitted now would not be approved in time for 31 October 2026, so new applicants should target 28 February 2027 and submit their EOI by early February at the latest. Applications are competitive and decisions take 12 to 16 weeks.
