UK Research and Innovation (Science and Technology Facilities Council)

STFC Public Engagement Spark Awards 2026B

About this grant

STFC Spark Awards fund public engagement projects that bring STFC-funded science, technology and facilities (such as astronomy, particle physics, space science and large research facilities) to UK audiences. Awards are £5,000 to £20,000, with STFC paying 100% of the full economic cost, for projects lasting 12 to 36 months and starting between 1 June and 1 September 2027. The total pot is £100,000. Projects targeting the Wonder audience (families with 8 to 14 year olds in the 40% most deprived areas) are prioritised. Every project needs a subject matter expert in an STFC-funded area. Apply through the UKRI Funding Service by 4pm on 10 December 2026.
